Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil

Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil?

When it comes to choosing a fish oil, one of the first concerns you may have regards the claims made on the bottle. How can you know for sure that you’re getting the right amount of omega-3s for your condition, or general health? Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil is unique in that it openly claims to provide a pharmaceutical grade, high-potency, IFOS 5-Star Certified fish oil in its capsules, a statement placing this fish oil supplement above and beyond many of the popular fish oil supplements on the market today.

Of course, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, particularly when it comes to your health. As always, we did the research for you, and took a closer look at Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil.

Quality and Results: What Do Customers Say?

Reviews are varied, but many of the customers who review the product on Amazon report a positive experience. However, opinions appear to be changing. Customers initially appreciated the value of Nutrigold, with only one pill needed per day, as opposed to the often multiple pill serving size of other leading brands. This serving size, though, has changed in recent years, and Nutrigold customers can now expect to take 2 pills to achieve the full serving size.

Despite the change in value, customers have seen some benefit from Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 on their health conditions, with many reviews focusing on the alleviation of anxiety, as well as anxiety medication withdrawal symptoms.

There were also customers who experienced a lowering of their cholesterol levels with the use of Nutrigold, although they did mention the largeness of the pills.

Nevertheless, Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil did not impress everyone who gave it a try. While some customers initially referenced the value of only needing to take one pill a day, others still found Nutrigold’s product to be overly expensive - and an expense that continues to rise even after the change in serving size.

Others also found that Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil appears to have gone through changes and incarnations in recent years that aren’t particularly favorable, with serious complaints about the packaging and seemingly newfound issues with quality that have lowered the previous hype around the ease of digestion and lack of fishy aftertaste.

Customers who complained about their packages didn’t always feel they received the best customer service response, either.

The general consensus of these reviews seems to be that Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil has been a top choice for many consumers who are in need of a pharmaceutical grade omega-3 supplement, but issues such as price increases, broken capsules, foul smells, and an apparent change in quality has led to some disappointment among old and new users alike.

Is the Price Right?

These customer reviews are especially disturbing in light of this supplement’s gradually rising price. As it stands, Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil goes for $56.24 for 180 softgels. This isn’t a cheap supplement, and it definitely isn’t worth purchasing if the product arrives broken or rancid! The apparent lack of price stability is also a concern, with some reviewers noting price increases as high as $80 a bottle. Plus, many people in search of a pharmaceutical grade omega-3 capsule are people who were actually prescribed omega-3s for their health conditions. These customers may seek out supplements online, instead of through their pharmacies, in the hopes of finding something cheaper if their health insurance isn’t approving the supplement at the pharmacy. At nearly $60, with these fickle reviews, it seems customers may just be better off looking elsewhere for their fish oil.

Although there are already clear concerns, it’s still worth it to take a further look at the ingredients inside a Nutrigold capsule.

Ingredients: No Longer in Ethyl Ester Form

Just as reviewers noticed, Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil underwent a recent formula change, albeit the purpose was likely meant to improve the product. Originally, this supplement’s fatty acids were found in ethyl ester form, as opposed to the triglyceride or free fatty acid forms of high-quality competitors, including Nordic Naturals and Omega XL. Ethyl ester is actually the most common formulation for omega-3 brands, particularly lower-quality omega-3 brands, likely because ethyl ester is the least expensive form to produce. However, research has demonstrated that ethyl ester is also the least bioavailable form of omega-3 supplementation. This is important, because low bioavailability means that very few of the omega-3s listed on the label of an ethyl ester formulated supplement are actually surviving the digestion process, and providing the benefits we want out of our omega-3s.
So, while switching from an ethyl ester form to a natural triglyceride form was certainly a more positive change, the negative reaction of consumers to the new formula’s side effects is confusing, and not at all positive.

Other changes, according to the product’s website, include a decrease in total omega-3s, from 1,060mg per capsule to 1,050mg per capsule, plus a slight decrease in EPA (from 750mg to 725mg), and a slight increase in DHA (from 275mg).
While it’s a good sign that Nutrigold is willing to adjust their product for optimal health benefit, it’s difficult to ignore the frustrated reviews detailing customer discomfort and poor packaging since the change in formula. Like the rising prices and change in serving size, it seems that there isn’t a lot of stability to Nutrigold’s product.
Safety Profile
Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil is manufactured in the United States, and contains Alaskan pollock fish. A close inspection of the label reveals it to be free of most allergens, including soy, milk, peanut, egg, corn, and gluten. It also claims to be molecularly distilled to remove the PCBs and heavy metals we worry about the most, including mercury. These assertions are backed by a certification from The International Fish Oil Standards Program, as well as independent, third-party labs. Despite the mixed reviews, this verification does provide a little more confidence in the product.

Conclusion

Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil has all the makings of a healthy supplement, but it falls flat in everything from taste and smell to price. No one wants to pay nearly $60 for a supplement filled with broken capsules, leaking fish oil, or disgusting smells. While this fish oil has its share of positive reviews, with some consumers seeing positive results, other customers complain that, in recent years, the product’s new formulation has resulted in stomach woes and fishy tastes - with no new results.

What saves Nutrigold’s product is its strong ingredients, namely its switch from ethyl ester form to the more bioavailable triglyceride form. This supplement is also certified through The International Fish Oil Standards Program, which even Nordic Naturals, a strong competitor, is not.

That being said, the reviews for this product still left us concerned about the safety of the shipment, and the quality of the fish oil inside the bottle. While Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil has clearly worked for some customers, particularly anxiety sufferers, there are far too many fish oil supplements with better tastes, subtler smells, no stomach upsets, and intact capsules for customers not to explore other options.
